Market Development ManagerThe Market Development Manager is responsible for nurturing and maximizing current customer relationships and for cultivating new or competitive accounts, all while maximizing sales potential within an assigned territory. The MDM is tasked with creating and executing a territory plan to deliver year‑over‑year install base and core growth directed by annual performance objectives and quota.
Primary MarketsThe role focuses on three primary markets:
Medical, Research & Education (MRE), Industry customers, and the Veterinary segment. MRE and Industry opportunities typically come through unsolicited customer inquiries, while the Veterinary market follows a traditional sales model requiring lead generation, cold calling, and relationship development. Customers range from universities and research facilities to medical device and biopharma companies, with veterinary being our newest segment following the 2024 VET
90 launch.
- Create a territory plan to grow market share and win competitive conversions, achieving annual revenue targets by utilizing value selling for all assigned product lines in the adjacent markets (Medical Research and Education, Industry) as well as the veterinary segment.
- Utilize the Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system to maintain accurate sales funnel, customer contacts, activities and forecast for the territory.
- Introduce new business to Radiometer product lines while driving favorable pricing and contract coordination per the company’s growth objectives.
- Use installed base and relationships across products within Radiometer as well as across other Danaher operating companies to improve visibility, customer intimacy and win‑rates.
- Plan, organize and execute sales calls and lead key accounts throughout the sales cycle.
- Bachelor’s degree required – Scientific/Business major or other scientific major preferred.
- 5+ years sales experience in medical diagnostics, veterinary diagnostics, medical device or academia and research. Background must include capital equipment sales.
- Strong understanding of Bio Process, therapeutic drug development, veterinary and agriculture market experience a plus.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), database and CRM systems.
- Ability to travel – estimated at 50‑70% or greater, including some overnight travel (10‑15 state territory) and 10% of travel outside the US.
- Must have a valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
- Ability to lift, move or carry equipment up to 50 lbs and any other physical requirements.
