Job DescriptionMission of the Role
This remote-based sales role is based out of the applicant’s home office and covers a regional sales territory virtually. The Virtual Account Manager will support and grow profitable SICK sales and market share within the company’s defined strategic industries and Team Selling region.
The role involves strategic sales with a focus on products, services, systems, and solutions, all delivered through a virtual medium (email, web‑based, etc.).
Key Responsibilities- Account ownership responsibility for C+D accounts and other accounts that can be serviced exclusively digitally.
- Focus on prospecting and lead development through eChannel, digital, and virtual experiences.
- Engage with the selling team to identify the best‑fit engagement path, including direct or channel partner options.
- Support the Selling Team Unit and Channel Partners in the defined region for daily business (e.g., pricing in CRM).
- Cold contact prospective new target customers through digital engagement methods to generate interest in SICK products and services.
- Act as a trusted technical advisor, introducing and selling SICK solutions and Lifetime Services to both existing and new prospects.
- Use and accurately maintain the company’s CRM system for all customer and sales‑process data.
- Develop direct customer relationships based on an understanding of customers’ business needs and technical language.
- Apply consultative sales techniques to improve customer production quality control and efficiency.
- Provide an excellent customer experience and accurately manage customer communications.
- Identify and qualify business and customer opportunities, understanding account potential, competitors, and market positioning.
- Generate new leads and opportunities for new product applications through continuous research.
- Introduce SICK’s new products, solutions, systems, and Lifetime Services with urgency and entrepreneurship.
- Develop strategic account plans for target customers and opportunities.
- Pursue sales excellence, continuously improving performance, and completing annual objectives and performance reviews.
- Capitalize on development and training opportunities for career growth and recognition.
- Stay abreast of market and competitive activity and recommend actions to mitigate negative impact on sales goals.
- Carry out other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned.
- Experience
:
Prior sales experience selling complex, high‑technology industrial automation solutions and sensor products through direct sales. Prior technical industry experience outside sales is preferred. - Education
:
Bachelor’s degree in a technical field with a focus on technical sales. - Position‑specific Qualifications
