Overview

The Microsoft Solution Sales Executive (MSSE) is responsible for identifying new business opportunities and key trends in the government and education sector. The MSSE is responsible for the growth of solution sales and services within the existing Federal Government and SLED, identifying new business opportunities and key trends in their assigned geography, and providing territory intelligence. Working under general supervision of the Manager of Microsoft Solutions and Services Sales, the MSSE develops and executes key digital‑transformation account strategies to exceed services, sales, and profitability quarterly goals and quotas.

Responsibilities
  • Provides territory intelligence and is the critical go-to resource for the Sales team's Microsoft opportunity development.
  • Identifies, forecasts, and pursues opportunities through the entire sales cycle, from opportunity creation to the sales close.
  • Prospects and identifies key business transformation opportunities, delivers the Connection/Microsoft value proposition including sales, managed/professional services, and customer success to expand consumption of Microsoft services and technology across their customer base.
  • Develops and maintains strong executive relationships with customers and throughout the IT channel.
  • Executes on proactive business objectives and strategies to exceed services, sales, and profitability quarterly goals and quotas.
  • Develops and maintains relationships with the Microsoft field sales teams assigned within their territory.
  • Travel required.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in IT / technology sales, selling into Director level or above, with an emphasis on developing and growing customer accounts.
  • Working knowledge of the IT Valued Added Reseller Channel including familiarity with manufacturers, distributors, service providers, and IT Products.
  • Experience selling the Microsoft technology stack.
  • Experience in selling services and/or managed services.
  • Negotiation skills with the ability to close sales.
  • Experience with account management, including generating new business and exceeding consumption‑based targets.
  • Ability to multi‑task, respond to rapid change, manage projects, manage detail, manage people and resources, set realistic and achievable goals/objectives and timelines.
  • Articulate with the ability to express yourself clearly and professionally in written and oral communication.
  • Adept at proactively finding business opportunities within the existing customer base.
  • Strategic thinker who anticipates and considers external and internal elements with the ability to develop long‑term plans to leverage resources.
  • Organized and can document activities, anticipate problems, plan schedules, and monitor performance according to priorities and deadlines.
