Job SummaryThe Senior Account Executive (SAE) is responsible for prospecting and closing new customer sales to meet budgeted sales goals. The role develops and implements effective selling strategies to ensure revenue growth at target or greater profitability levels. In addition, the SAE manages existing business relationships to achieve budgeted sales, price goals, and retention by negotiating contracts, securing commitments, and handling customer cancellations.
All customer service escalations within the territory will be resolved through this position. The role is remote; employees must reside in the greater Salt Lake City, UT area and will make the majority of the week on customer site visits.
- Maintain and grow billable value in assigned accounts, preventing account losses and acquiring new waste streams, services, and products.
- Initiate business‑to‑business sales relationships.
- Prospect and close sales opportunities to achieve budgeted sales goals through sound selling strategies.
- Develop prospect development plans and manage pipeline to meet new sales goals.
- Minimize revenue loss by maintaining relationship health standards and resolving cancellation requests.
- Achieve revenue and profitability increases by executing retention plans to improve customer service and profitability.
- Establish and maintain high customer satisfaction.
- Propose compliant customer solutions and resolve unique issues in coordination with Area Sales Managers.
- Communicate pricing and service strategies, engage other WM business opportunities, and refer internally as appropriate.
- Prepare complex proposals and recommend equipment optimization and leasing options.
- Stay current on internal sale strategies, operational capabilities, and market trends.
- Collaborate with Plant Managers and Brokerage Account Managers to upgrade materials and increase profitability.
- Bachelor’s Degree (accredited) required; or High School Diploma or GED (accredited) plus 4 years of related work experience.
- 4 years of direct business‑to‑business sales experience, cold calling, and phone‑based prospecting.

CompensationBase pay range: $64,100 - $76,860 (U.S. wide). Salary may vary by experience, education, and location. Eligible for incentive pay.
