Job Description

Insight Global is seeking a hungry Director of Business Development for its supply chain and logistics client. While this is a remote position, candidates sitting or willing to sit in Phoenix, Chicago, Texas, or San Francisco will take precedence in the evaluation process.

The Director, Business Development plays a key role in identifying new business opportunities for transportation and logistics services, establishing strong business relationships with existing and/or prospective customers, and supporting the Company’s mission and strategic initiatives. The role is extremely acquisition-based and will require a "hunters" mentality to be successful.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute an effective sales strategy for the Company’s services in target markets, industries, and customers.
  • Lead prospecting efforts and oversee inside sales prospecting staff.
  • Meet established sales goals and develop new business relationships via prospecting, customer research, networking, referrals, etc.
  • Make sales presentations to prospective clients.
  • Gain and maintain advanced knowledge of the Company’s service offerings; create innovative solutions to convey the Company’s services.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with current and prospective customers, analyzing customer needs to identify ways to expand business opportunities.
  • Identify and engage decision makers and propose appropriate next steps.
  • Handle entire sales process from prospect to close, reaching or exceeding sales goals.
  • Develop and maintain customer portfolios, contact lists, and customer records; manage sales data, activities, notes, next steps in an organized fashion.
  • Collaborate with sales, finance, and operations teams to develop customer proposals, support onboarding of new business / lanes, and establish customer SOPs.
  • Represent the Company at conferences, meetings, trade shows, etc.;
  • Identify and evolve with the latest industry and business development trends by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional / industry organizations.
  • Proactively identify problems and implement effective solutions.
  • Adhere to all company and customer policies, procedures, quality, safety, and security requirements, and reporting policies.

Skills and Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree, preferably in Supply Chain Management, Sales & Marketing, or Business Management, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 5-7 years' experience in an Outside Sales, Business Development, or Account Executive role.
  • Supply chain, transportation, and/or logistics industry experience
  • Demonstrated experience with start to end sales process.
  • Positive and energetic self-starter, with excellent drive, ambition and work ethic;
  • Must have entrepreneurial mindset with ability to identify and create new opportunities for growth and development.
  • Must have strong MS Office skills, ability to create and maintain reports and presentations;
  • Strong prospecting, relationship building, negotiation, and consultation skills;
  • Able to penetrate gatekeepers and establish referrals across the organization
  • Adept at utilizing CRM reports and dashboards;
  • Current passport needed for international travel;
    Existent book of business/loyal client base
  • Experience with RFQs
  • Master's Degree
