We are seeking an experienced Business Development Manager to drive significant new business growth. This role is focused on winning high‑value, strategic accounts through pro‑active outreach, intelligent targeting, and persuasive pitching. You will be commercially ambitious, relentlessly pro‑active, and highly comfortable operating at senior decision‑maker level. This role is about opening doors, creating opportunity, and converting it into revenue. Success is measured by results: pipeline value, win rate, and revenue delivered against target.
Key Responsibilities Business Development & Sales- Develop and execute outbound sales strategies to increase market presence and revenue growth.
- Identify, target and secure new business opportunities, including prospecting, networking, and direct engagement, across corporate, agency and venue sectors.
- Consistently generate qualified opportunities without reliance on inbound leads.
- Secure meetings with senior decision‑makers and budget holders.
- Confidently present and negotiate at board and C‑suite level.
- Lead on client pitches, presentations, and proposal writing.
- Manage RFPs, tenders and procurement submissions, ensuring accurate and compelling responses.
- Convert high‑value event enquiries from proposal through to contract stage.
- Maintain and review the sales pipeline, ensuring revenue goals are consistently met.
- Take ownership of individual revenue targets and KPIs.
- Maintain accurate forecasting and pipeline reporting via Hub Spot.
- Report clearly on sales performance, opportunity progressions, and risks.
- Build and nurture strong, long‑term relationships with new and existing clients.
- Understand client needs and present solutions aligned to objectives, brand values, and budget.
- Act as a trusted advisor and represent The Events Company professionally at meetings, events, and industry functions.
- Work closely with the Commercial, Logistics and Delivery teams to ensure accurate costing, resourcing and feasibility of proposed solutions.
- Brief internal teams effectively to ensure client expectations are met and exceeded.
- Provide clear project handovers once contracts are confirmed.
- Provide insight into market trends, competitor positioning, and client demand.
- Collaborate with Marketing to develop campaigns, collateral and promotional activity to support lead generation.
- Proven track record in corporate event new business development and account management.
- Sales experience in the corporate events, AV, or agency sectors.
- Strategic thinker with a pro‑active, results‑first mindset.
- Strong communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
- Self‑motivated, pro‑active and target‑driven.
- Existing network of corporate clients, venues or agencies.
- Experience working on tenders, RFPs and corporate procurement processes.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office.
- Experience of Hub Spot or similar CRM.
- Smart, professional and client‑facing at all times.
- Full clean driving licence.
- Willingness to travel (UK and overseas) and work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as required.
