Senior Business Development Manager

Package £47,000 -£50,000 basic salary, premium electric company car, uncapped commission on new business, commission on renewals, pension and business expenses. OTE of approximately £65,000 with £80,000+ strong performers and £100,000 for exceptional results.

We are looking for a proven new-business hunter to drive Carn Engineering’s growth across Ireland. This is a hands‑on sales role focused on personally identifying, developing and closing new B2B opportunities.

Carn Engineering Ltd is based in Belfast and operates across Ireland, supporting businesses with statutory engineering inspections and consultancy services. The company focuses on testing, examination, and certification of workplace machinery, ensuring compliance with Health and Safety legislation. With extensive experience across multiple industries, Carn Engineering helps clients meet their legal obligations for work equipment while protecting employees and the public.

The Senior Business Development Manager is full‑time and home‑based. This role is responsible for identifying and securing new business opportunities right across Ireland and the UK, particularly within sectors requiring statutory engineering inspections and consultancy services. Day‑to‑day tasks include developing and executing growth strategies, building and maintaining relationships with key decision‑makers, and managing the sales pipeline from prospecting through to contract negotiation and closure.

The Senior Business Development Manager will collaborate with technical and operations teams to tailor service offerings to client needs, prepare proposals and bids, and represent Carn Engineering at meetings, industry events, and presentations. The role also involves monitoring market trends, reporting on performance metrics, and contributing to strategic planning to enhance Carn Engineering’s market presence and client satisfaction.

• Proven track record of generating and winning new B2B business, ideally within engineering, industrial services or compliance‑related sectors.
• Strong relationship‑building and negotiation skills, with the confidence to engage senior decision‑makers.
• Proven ability to build and manage a sales pipeline, prospect independently and consistently meet commercial targets.
• Experience selling B2B services; knowledge of statutory inspections, engineering consultancy or regulatory compliance would be advantageous, although training will be provided.
• Strong presentation and proposal‑writing skills, with a professional and commercially focused approach.
• Comfortable visiting client locations throughout Ireland and the UK; valid driving license and willingness to travel as needed.
