Electrical Estimator Shermco Industries

Shermco Industries is hiring an Electrical Estimator for a full-time, hybrid position based in Irving, TX
. Reporting directly to the estimation manager, you will prepare precise cost estimates and customer proposals for NETA Acceptance and Maintenance Testing services - covering breakers, transformers, switch gear, and other electrical apparatus at customer sites.

Estimating is central to Shermco's operations. In this hybrid role, you will balance remote work with periodic on-site collaboration, taking ownership of the quoting process from initial RFQ evaluation through final proposal delivery.

• Evaluate and complete request for quotations (RFQs) from Shermco sales personnel
• Analyze project specifications and requirements to build competitive bids
• Prepare detailed quote worksheets covering labor, materials, vendor support, logistics, freight, and associated expenses
• Obtain additional quoting information - accessibility constraints, one-line drawings, training requirements, photos - from outside sales or customers as needed
• Review irregular or large-scale projects with production and operations teams
• Collaborate with outside sales and fellow estimators to ensure accurate scoping and proper costing
• Participate in quarterly job walks with outside sales to deepen your technical knowledge of electrical apparatus
• Maximize job margins by reviewing past job performance data and historical cost information
• Perform daily reviews of the quote queue to ensure all quotes are submitted on time
• Prepare technical proposal letters to send to customers on behalf of the sales team
• Update quotes and assist with change-order proposals for additional scopes of work

• 2+ years of electrical testing estimation experience preferred (not required); relevant experience as an electrical technician or hands-on estimation background without electrical experience will also be considered
• Ability to read and interpret one-line diagrams
• Working knowledge of Salesforce
• Advanced proficiency in Excel, Word, Adobe, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Outlook
• Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills with a solid understanding of profitability and financial measurements
• Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication abilities
• Self-directed, highly motivated, and able to balance immediate and long-term priorities
• Strong time management, planning, organizing, and prioritization skills
• Professional demeanor and a positive attitude
• Fluent in English (read, write, and speak)
• Pass a pre-employment drug test, periodic random drug screening, and a criminal background check
