Base pay range$80,000.00/yr - $90,000.00/yr
Our client, a growing environmental consulting firm, is looking for an experienced Environmental Scientist to help with their projects both in office and in the field.
This role involves both managing and conducting investigation, remediation, and due diligence projects. You will be involved in both field and office work, including report writing, data analysis, and sampling. The ideal candidate will have multiple years of professional environmental consulting experience and a strong understanding of project context, goals, and deliverables, as well as the ability to wear multiple hats.

Office - New Milford, CT (approx. 75%) Field - NY/ NJ/ CT (approx. 25%)
- Conduct sampling for soil, groundwater, and air contaminants.
- Perform field inspections and studies of sites proposed for investigation.
- Perform site inspections and contractor oversight/direction.
- Maintain a detailed field book with all project information, observations notes, sketches, summaries of fieldwork and field communication.
- Collect and interpret field data.
- Handle any issues or changes in the field and take on management of the project.
- Maintain strong professional relationships with clients and subcontractors, and assertively avoid sampling documentation issues.
- Create detailed reports without artificial intelligence tools, using personally acquired data from the field, historical reports, geologic literature, and regulatory files.
- Draft maps based on field notes and observations.
- Perform geological literature and regulatory file searches.
- Evaluate laboratory and boring data and samples, prepare geologic cross‑sections, and summarize data for inclusion in reports.
- Set up projects and vendors, including required administrative paperwork.
- Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and standards.
- Communicate effectively with clients, regulatory agencies, and project stakeholders.
- Maintain regular communication with team members via calls, text messages, and emails.
- Assist staff in understanding project resource needs and directing any project team members.
- Maintain a detailed timesheet log for each project (daily notes and hours worked per job number).
- Record miles driven for project travel in a field book and transcribe to a timesheet and/or expense report.
Standard 40‑hour work week, typically 9 am to 5 pm, with occasional overtime based on project needs. Flexibility required for onsite fieldwork. The role may include remote office activities.
Immediate availability, including calls, texts, and emails during normal business hours (7 am to 6 pm Monday‑Friday). Urgent matters may arise outside these hours.
Field notes must be completed and turned in promptly at the end of each shift, following standard procedures.
Travel outside of established territory may be required on limited notice.
Qualifications- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Geology, Engineering, or a related field (relevant experience may substitute).
- OSHA standard certifications required; asbestos or lead licensing preferred.
- At least 3 + years of environmental consulting experience; prior project management experience highly preferred.
- Strong understanding of environmental regulations and standards.
- Fluency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, etc.).
- Experience with project management or estimating software highly preferred.
- Experience with Adobe Acrobat and CAD LT highly preferred.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to project sites.
- Availability and responsiveness during business hours and outside them for project needs.
- Starting wage: $38/hr–$43/hr (approximately $80k–$90k annual). Negotiable based on experience, certifications, and industry relationships.
