We are seeking qualified Archaeological Field Technicians for projects across the U.S., with immediate needs in California, Nevada, Arizona, Oregon, Washington, Virginia, and additional sites in Florida, Colorado, Texas, South Carolina, and Alaska. Candidates should have basic field and laboratory skills, be able to work in various survey and monitoring contexts, and be willing to travel to project sites as required.

• Archaeological survey, excavation, and monitoring
• Communicate on‑site with construction crews and Native American personnel; maintain daily logs detailing activities, communications, and future plans
• Collaborate with crew leaders to verify understanding of site‑specific instructions; conduct scientific photography, measurement, artifact identification, and recordation of resources
• Work effectively with a team during excavation to identify buried resources and document them accurately

• Bachelor’s degree in Archaeology or Anthropology
• Ability to safely operate a 4‑wheel drive vehicle
• Physical ability to carry equipment and supplies (up to 40 lbs) and walk or hike for long hours during fieldwork
• Willingness to travel to a project location for several consecutive days
• Valid driver’s license and personal automobile liability insurance by first day of employment

• Accredited field school certification
• Previous archaeological survey experience in California, the Desert West, the Pacific Northwest, and/or the Mid‑Atlantic, with experience recording a variety of site and isolate types
• Experience with pedestrian survey, testing/evaluation, and monitoring techniques
• Ability to operate field equipment including GPS devices, cameras, and tablets
• Knowledge of and experience using ESRI Collector and/or Field Maps

Compensation: $18‑31 per hour based on education, experience, and location.*

* Final agreed‑upon compensation will be based on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, an individual’s related experience, education, certifications, skills, and work location. Successful candidates must pass a pre‑employment drug test and background check prior to beginning employment.

Environment

• This job operates in a remote or office‑based environment and requires routine use of computers, phones, printers, etc.
• Occasional project site visits may include outdoor work with noise, uneven surfaces, extreme weather, and moving vehicles and equipment.

Physical Requirements

• Working on a computer, sitting, or standing for long periods in an office or remote office setting.
• Capacity to bend, squat, climb ladders, and lift up to 35 lbs unassisted; 50 lbs in team lift (two or more employees).
• Attend meetings in person and virtually; speak on the phone with government agencies, the public, and others.
• Visual acuity: close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and appropriate focus adjustment.
• Outdoor activity may involve walking/trekking over uneven terrain in extreme weather conditions for extended periods.
