Nanofabrication Laboratory Assistant

Position

Materials Research Institute, PSU University Park Campus is seeking a Part Time Nanofabrication Laboratory Assistant.

• Support advanced research activities in the Nanofabrication Laboratory.
• Work up to 25 hours per week on a defined schedule.
• Gain valuable experience and skills in nanofabrication, micromachining, and materials research.

• Fabrication and characterization of micromachined flexoelectric devices.
• Training new post‑doctoral scholars on laboratory equipment and procedures.
• Perform Atomic Layer Deposition (ALD) on various substrates using the ALD tools.
• Provide training of new users on ALD tools.
• Create recipes for processes on the ALD tools.
• Assist with ALD‑related maintenance tasks such as pump changes and material changes.
• Manage ALD‑related precursors and monitor gas levels and pressures.
• Perform other tasks as assigned by the laboratory staff.

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent.
• Basic knowledge of nanofabrication and materials science.
• Ability to follow instructions and protocols.
• Must be able to work in a cleanroom environment.
• Attention to detail and accuracy.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Experience with MEMS fabrication preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to train others on technical equipment.

The starting rate for this job is $36.50 per hour.
