Eco Genic, LLC is seeking an Environmental Scientist - Ecosystem Restoration to assist with the planning, management, and implementation of ecological restoration projects. This position is remote-based; however, preference will be given to candidates located in Middle or East Tennessee, or North or Middle Georgia, due to proximity to staff and project sites. Our restoration work spans the southeastern U.S., with a strong focus on Tennessee and Georgia watersheds.

Job DescriptionPerforms technical work associated with the development, operation, and maintenance of ecological and restoration projects for Eco Genic, LLC, including but not limited to: field data collection, data entry, data processing/analysis, and technical writing.
Works with project managers, engineers, and other ecosystem restoration scientists to plan and conduct field efforts including:
- Feasibility assessments of potential restoration projects
- Wetland delineations and stream assessments
- Biological (macroinvertebrate, fish, and vegetation) surveys
- Geomorphological surveys
- Hydrological assessments
- Vegetation management including invasive species removal and native planting establishment
- Site maintenance
- Mitigation site monitoring and data analysis
- Preparation of technical reports, field documentation, and regulatory document submissions
- Works with project team to develop data management solutions to facilitate efficient project delivery and necessary workflows for restoration projects.
- Contributes to the continued growth of Eco Genic by supporting project development, helping expand service capabilities, and identifying opportunities for innovation and efficiency in restoration practices.
- Assists in developing and implementing adaptive management strategies to improve long‑term restoration success.
- Engages in professional development and mentorship opportunities with the potential to take on increasing leadership, project management, or stakeholder coordination responsibilities as the company grows.
- Participates in internal discussions to refine workflows, improve processes, and shape Eco Genic's long‑term restoration goals.
- BA/BS in an environmental science field such as, but not limited to, ecology, wetland science, aquatic biology, botany, wildlife biology, fisheries, soils, hydrology, etc.
- Minimum one (1) year of experience in the environmental field, relevant internship, or an advanced degree, including experience with data planning, collection, processing, and management.
- Experience in technical writing—such as preparing reports, 401/404 permit applications, summaries, or documentation—is highly valued.
- Basic understanding of ecological restoration principles, wetland/stream ecology, or natural resource management.
- Ability to conduct physically demanding fieldwork in challenging conditions (e.g., heat, cold, uneven terrain, wetlands).
- Familiarity with field data collection methods (e.g., GPS, data forms, mobile data platforms).
- Experience with mapping or data software (e.g., ArcGIS, Collector, Survey
