THE POSITION

As a Senior Geoscientist, you will help prepare high-quality geologic maps, cross-sections, and derivative maps essential for geological analysis. Your expertise will support GIS applications and geospatial data, employing advanced tools and queries to create maps, charts, graphics, and data layers that meet the needs of USGS grants and the bureau. You will develop custom scripts to automate processes and improve workflow efficiency.
You will establish and enforce geospatial data standards (content, format, design, maintenance, and quality assurance) to ensure data integrity and usability. You will investigate new data sources, software, equipment, and methodologies, providing recommendations to enhance data collection, analysis, modeling, and visualization for geological research and applications.

- Full-time employment
- Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday – Friday, with a 30-minute lunch
- This position may require travel and overtime as needed
- Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time up to 5 days per pay period. Telework requires a securely configured high-speed internet connection and an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If telework is not possible, you may report to the headquarters office in Middletown. Telework eligibility is subject to change. Further details may be provided during the interview

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- One year as a Geoscientist (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration) or
- Possession of an active license as a professional geologist issued by the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists, or
- Two years of professional geology experience with a bachelor's degree in geology, hydrogeology, geosciences, geophysics, geochemistry, engineering geology, or a closely related field that includes 30 college credits in geology, geophysics, geochemistry, engineering geology, or related area, or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training
Special Requirement:
- This position requires possession of a valid PA non-commercial Class C driver's license or equivalent
