AI Business & Operations, Research Assistant/Associate
Parisi Labs is building foundational world models for physical industry. We are developing models that learn how complex physical systems behave and reuse that understanding across forecasts, scenarios, and operational decisions.
Energy is our first proving ground. We combine historical and live data with operational context, bringing together machine learning research, data infrastructure, and software engineering to turn advances in modeling into useful technology for energy operators.
We are a small technical team working directly with the founders on our core models, systems, and products.
We are looking for a Data Operations Associate on a contract or full-time basis to source, clean, and validate energy data. Your initial focus will be Ask The Grid, our live product for exploring the power grid, its markets, and its assets.
You will use AI-assisted research and coding to turn scattered information into dependable records and repeatable workflows. Judgment is central: you should be able to explain where a value came from, catch incorrect matches or unsupported claims, and decide what to verify, correct, or elevate.
You will scope work with the founders and data engineering team, own sourcing and validation tasks, and collaborate with engineers on integrating the results into our products. Students, recent graduates, and early-career candidates are welcome; projects, independent research, and freelance work can demonstrate the skills we need.
No particular degree or minimum number of years of experience is required. We care about evidence of useful work, clear thinking, and independent follow-through.
For contract work, we will agree milestones, acceptance criteria, and timing based on the scope and available hours.
You will work directly with a small technical team, see your work used in a live energy product, and build experience in AI-assisted research, data quality, and practical automation. You will have responsibility for useful outcomes and room to grow as your skills and the work develop.
Engagement:
Contract or full-time employment. We can consider a full‑time hire from the outset or start with a part‑time contract. Contract work may grow into full‑time employment based on performance, company needs, and mutual fit.
Contract:
$30–$40 USD per hour, initially approximately 10–15 hours per week. Scope, hours, and schedule will be agreed before work begins. Remote contractors may be considered.
Full‑time: $65,000–$85,000 USD annual base salary.
Location:
New York City or Boston/Cambridge, with in‑person collaboration three days per week, consistent with our other full‑time roles.
Compensation within each range depends on demonstrated skills and agreed scope. No equity is included in contract work; any full‑time equity would be discussed separately as part of the offer.
- Find and evaluate public datasets, reports, websites, and APIs; document their coverage, definitions, freshness, and limitations.
- Research and enrich energy‑asset records with traceable sources and clear treatment of unknowns.
- Clean, standardize, deduplicate, and reconcile names, identifiers, units, and locations across sources.
- Investigate missing or inconsistent data, trace the cause, and make corrections or elevate unresolved questions with evidence.
- Build lightweight Python, SQL, or AI‑assisted extraction and validation workflows that another team member can inspect and run.
- Maintain clear documentation and follow‑through on data requests, checks, and completed work.
- Hands‑on AI use: you already use tools such as Claude, ChatGPT, or AI coding assistants to complete real work and can explain your contribution and checks.
- Sound judgment about source reliability, entity matching, conflicting evidence, and uncertainty.
- The ability…
