- Patrol: Safeguard university property by enforcing laws, ordinances, and regulations.

- Serve: Build relationships with community members, promoting public safety goals through positive engagements, preventative patrols and timely responses to accidents, incidents, crimes, and disturbances.

What You'll Need to Succeed:
Minimum Qualifications for Officers:
- One year of relevant experience in general law enforcement
- Completion of a basic law enforcement training program recognized by the Kansas Law Enforcement Training Commission
Minimum Qualifications for Trainees:
- Completion of a basic law enforcement training program recognized by the Kansas Law Enforcement Training Commission. With a full year to complete the program, trainees receive top-notch instruction without any cost. Plus, during their time at the academy, they're not just learning-they're earning!
Preferred Qualifications:
- Thorough working knowledge of local, state, and federal law, and university rules and regulations
- Ability to make reports in written form in a clear and concise manner
- Additional special requirements preferred (all of the following to be considered equally):
- Expresses good judgment
- Displays job knowledge, skills, abilities, and interests
- Shows the ability to maintain positive public relations
- Demonstrates analytical ability
- Demonstrates good verbal communication skills
- Indicates high-stress tolerance
Other Requirements:
- Applicants must be a United States Citizen and at least 21 years of age.
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Must possess a valid unrestricted driver's license (corrected vision acceptable) upon employment
- First Aid and CPR certification necessary within one year after employment.
- Must complete a basic law enforcement training program recognized by the Kansas Law Enforcement Training Commission before being given permanent status.
