Cobb Fendley is seeking an experienced SUE Field Technician in our Albuquerque, New Mexico Office
.
- Locate, designate, and mark underground utilities via all quality levels within prescribed quality/accuracy limits.
- Perform Level A (QL-A) SUE locating via nondestructive techniques with equipment such as high-pressure air/hydro wand, concrete saws, core drills, and vacuum hose systems to determine precise horizontal, vertical position, size, and type of underground utilities.
- Perform Level B (QL-B) SUE designation via electromagnetic equipment to determine existence and horizontal position of underground utilities. Perform Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) scanning when included as part of the scope. Document estimated electronic depth readings.
- Document site conditions and SUE information via photographs and/or video. Perform sewer video inspections when necessary.
- May perform Level C (QL-C) SUE, including surveying existing visible utilities, manholes, valve boxes, etc.
- May perform Level D (QL-D) SUE, including contacting utility representatives to obtain existing utility records.
- Record accurate documentation/sketches of underground utility field data using CF’s online GIS-based mapping software.
- Operate large profile vehicles with/without attached trailers, and perform vehicle maintenance.
- Travel as required by the role; travel percentage may be up to 30% and includes to other offices or project sites throughout the US.
- Report punctually to work as scheduled and maintain dependable attendance.
- May cross-train to perform other field services (Survey, Telecommunications, etc.).
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Tasks are divided between indoor and outdoor settings, with approximately 80% outdoor and 20% indoor duties.
- Seated and Standing Position. Extended periods of sitting and standing at a workstation or job site.
- Mobility. Movement within the office and job sites, including navigating between floors and walking surfaces.
- Head and Neck Movement. Movement while using multiple computer screens.
- Repetitive Motion. Repetitive finger movements for operating a computer mouse and typing, plus related activities such as reaching and bending.
- Arm Movement. Reaching and manipulating objects in various directions.
- Object Handling. Lifting and transporting equipment and supplies up to 100 pounds as needed.
- Cognitive Requirements. Includes attention, comprehension, reasoning, and problem solving.
- Physical Abilities. Hand-eye coordination, stamina, dexterity, and depth perception.
- Safety and Equipment Use. Regular use of PPE and tools.
- Driving and Vehicle Use. May involve driving large trucks with trailers and occasional watercraft use; extended drive times possible.
- This is a full-time position, generally 40 hours per week, with potential overtime depending on department needs.
- Standard hours are Monday through Friday, 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM CST, with a 1-hour unpaid lunch break unless project workload requires otherwise.
- This position requires in-person work and is ineligible for remote work.
