Wellspring is a statewide nonprofit serving families and children in need of support. We take a whole-person, strength-based approach to our work because we believe lasting change happens when we help people recognize and build on their strengths. We are seeking a Family Preservation Worker to join our In-Home Family Services program, supporting families throughout Michigan’s Northwest Region, including Grand Traverse, Leelanau, and Kalkaska counties
. In this role, you will provide home-based services designed to help families access needed resources, strengthen relationships, and maintain a safe and stable home environment.
- Adhere to the In-Home Family Services model of service (strength-based, non-deficit approach).
- Provide families with concrete services such as housing support, transportation, home cleaning, maintenance, and repair.
- Deliver skills training in areas including parenting, communication, self-advocacy, and self-sufficiency.
- Offer short-term counseling and crisis intervention.
- Make collateral contacts to:
- arrange outpatient counseling or medical care,
- address educational needs,
- assist with utilities,
- resolve housing issues with landlords, shelters, or housing programs,
- connect families with community resources.
- Prepare required documentation—service plans, progress reports, termination summaries, goal sheets, weekly plans, time reports, and correspondence—within appropriate time frames.
- Present cases for termination conferences and recommend follow-up services.
- Maintain 24-hour availability to clients and work a flexible schedule based on family needs.
- Conduct face-to-face contact with families according to contract requirements and family needs.
- Maintain weekly communication with referring workers.
- Complete follow-up evaluations at 3, 6, and 12 months post-service.
- Transport clients using your own vehicle when needed.
- Associate's degree in social work or a related human services field required. Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Experience working with children and families preferred.
- Compassionate, reliable, and committed to supporting families with a strengths-based approach.
- Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Valid driver’s license, vehicle registration, and auto insurance required.
- Hybrid-Remote: Home-based with travel throughout Grand Traverse, Leelanau, and Kalkaska counties to meet families in their homes.
- Schedule: 40 hours per week with flexible hours and 24-hour availability as needed.
- Team Meetings: Weekly team connection and supervision.
- Starting Pay: $43,000 per year, based on experience.
