Pay or shift range: $40,000 USD to $43,259.84 USD. The estimated range is the budgeted amount for this position. Final offers are based on various factors, including skill set, experience, location, qualifications and other job‑related reasons.

As a Family Preservation Counselor, you will work in‑home and community based setting in Southern New Jersey. The family program provides home based crisis intervention and psycho‑educational skill building strategies to families with children at risk or to assist with the reunification process.
Schedule:
Full‑time;
Flexible hours;
Monday through Sunday
Responsibilities:
- Must be directly accessible by phone to assigned families 24 hours a day, 7 days a week
- Assess risk and structure interventions with families to assure safety; interventions used will consider the need for worker’s safety as well
- Utilize a positive, supportive, non‑judgmental approach with families in order to enlist them as partners in the therapeutic process
- Provide information; teach life skills, so that family members can more effectively manage their current situations and future crisis
- Facilitate change using behavioral interventions
- Facilitate change by using cognitive strategies; maintain a mutually supportive atmosphere among team members throughout the agency
- Complete all necessary program and agency paperwork in a thorough, timely professional manner; conduct 3, 6 and 12 month follow‑ups of families (post completion of FPS services) to determine outcome of FPS intervention

Qualifications:
- Master’s degree (MA, MS, MSW) in the social service fields or education plus experience working with families and children, knowledge of crisis intervention, cognitive behavioral skills, communication skills, and family dynamics education is helpful OR;
- Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of two (2) years post‑degree experience working with families and children or teaching may substitute for a Master’s degree plus experience working with families and children, knowledge of crisis intervention, cognitive behavioral skills, communication skills, and family dynamics education is helpful
- Must possess the capabilities to absorb and utilize skills presented within the FPS New Worker’s Training;
- Bilingual strongly preferred;
- Valid Driver’s License required.
