Overview

The Customer Service Representative serves as a primary contact and financial advocate for guarantors to navigate and resolve questions related to Children's Mercy billing. The role encourages payment and self-pay collections, supporting the hospital’s financial health.

This is a Monday–Friday position, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM, and the candidate will be on the phone the majority of the shift. Call volume is high; resilience and professionalism are essential. Call Center experience is preferred. The role will have flexibility to work from home for most shifts, but commuting to site is required for backup, training, and meetings.

Additionally, seasonal influenza vaccine is a condition of employment. New employees must be willing to be vaccinated if found non‑immune to measles, mumps, rubella (MMR), and chicken pox (varicella) and/or without evidence of tetanus, diphtheria, acellular pertussis (Tdap) vaccination since 2005. Vaccination records must be supplied upon hire. Medical and/or religious exemptions can be discussed with Human Resources.

Responsibilities
  • Respond to verbal and written requests for information from guarantors, payors, and internal and external customers.
  • Review and respond to parent mail and voicemail messages.
  • Review and resolve patient and family requests received through the Patient Financial Services website.
  • Perform special projects and miscellaneous tasks.
Qualifications
  • Associate’s Degree or 1–2 years experience in Customer Service, Patient Accounts, Revenue Cycle, or Medical Insurance Billing.

Starting Pay

Pay ranges are market competitive, starting at $18.74 /hr, and will be adjusted for education and experience.
