Job Title: Family Preservation Social Worker

Wellspring is a statewide nonprofit serving families and children across Michigan. We take a whole-person, strength-based approach to working with families because we believe lasting change begins with recognizing and building upon their strengths. We are currently seeking a Family Preservation Worker to join our Families First Program, supporting families throughout Mid-Michigan, including Saginaw and Gratiot counties. In this role, you will provide short-term, home-based services designed to support family stability, strengthen protective factors, and promote long-term self-sufficiency.
Responsibilities- Adhere to the Families First model of service, utilizing a strength-based, non-deficit approach.
- Provide and assist families in accessing concrete services such as housing support, transportation, home cleaning, maintenance, and repairs.
- Deliver skills training in areas including parenting, communication, self-advocacy, and self-sufficiency.
- Provide short-term counseling and crisis intervention to families experiencing stress or instability.
- Make collateral contacts to coordinate support such as outpatient counseling, medical care, educational needs, utility assistance, and housing resources.
- Prepare and maintain documentation—including service plans, progress reports, termination summaries, goal sheets, weekly plans, time reports, and related correspondence—within required time frames.
- Present each case for termination conferences with contractors and recommend appropriate follow-up services.
- Maintain 24-hour availability to clients and a flexible work schedule based on the needs of each family.
- Maintain face-to-face contact with families according to contract requirements and family-specific needs.
- Maintain weekly contact (or more as needed) with referring workers.
- Complete follow-up evaluations at 3, 6, and 12 months within designated time frames.
- Transport clients in your own vehicle as needed.
- Bachelor’s degree in social work or a human services–related field required.
- Experience working with children and families preferred.
- Reliable, responsible, and compassionate approach to supporting families.
- Strong organizational, communication, and documentation skills.
- Current and valid driver’s license, vehicle registration, and auto insurance required.
- Hybrid Remote: Home-based with travel into the community throughout Saginaw and Gratiot counties.
- Schedule: Full-time with flexible hours and 24-hour call availability as needed.
- Weekly team meetings, trainings, and clinical supervision (1–2 times per week).
- Pay Rate: $41,000 / year (based on experience and education).
