Mentor and support individuals with developmental disabilities in finding and maintaining employment in the San Gabriel Valley, CA. Provide job development, resume building, interview training, assist with transportation, and help build positive workplace relationships.
Program DetailsScheduled work days:
Pomona – Mondays and Thursdays 8:00 AM‑2:00 PM;
Hacienda Heights – Weekday availability 9:00 AM‑3:00 PM.
Starting rate $24.00 per hour plus mileage, cell phone reimbursement, and placement bonuses of $100‑600 (prorated).
Job DescriptionGeneral Description
- Carry out directives from the Support Manager, Director of Services, CEO, and Board.
- Mentor clients, focusing on health, safety, and quality of life.
- Provide job development and on‑the‑job supports guided by PBIS and Instructional Support Strategies.
- Gather information for Individualized Support Plans.
- Utilize digital tools (Zoom, online learning, job search sites).
- Maintain business relationships with employers and volunteer sites.
- Two years of college or equivalent experience preferred.
- Experience in job development and on‑the‑job support preferred.
- Experience supporting people with disabilities in community integrated settings.
- Strong organizational, communication, and writing skills; proficient with computers and online platforms.
- Positive behavior support training experience preferred.
- Commitment to full inclusion and integrated employment for persons with disabilities.
- Commitment to self‑advocacy and person‑centered planning.
- Flexible availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- Understand and practice IRI’s mission and person‑centered values.
- Demonstrate respectful communication with clients, employers, families, and colleagues.
- Build competence and esteem in all interactions with clients.
- Implement normalized community integrated employment‑focused service.
- Develop integrated work schedules and secure competitive placements.
- Encourage meaningful employment‑related activities for clients.
- Conduct job site analyses pre, during, and post employment.
- Implement adaptation strategies and necessary devices.
- Provide basic healthcare needs as required.
- Execute service plan goals and SMART objectives.
- Monitor behavior strategy systems and plans.
- Conduct task analysis and use data‑based training decisions.
- Complete required documents (eRSP daily care notes, clocking, personnel files).
- Attend staff development training and other assignments.
- Communicate updates to supervisor, circle of support, and stakeholders.
- Dress appropriately for tasks.
- Demonstrate emergency procedures and report emergencies.
- Collaborate on customized employment activities with stakeholders.
- Contact prospective employers and facilitate job applications.
- Shadow and train other coaches as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned by leadership.
- Stand ~1 hour, sit ~6 hours, walk ~1 hour per 8‑hour shift.
- Frequently bend, stoop, climb stairs, reach above shoulder, balance, pull, push, and drive.
- Occasionally lift and carry 1‑10 lbs.
- Use hands for at least part of the day.
- Maintain visual and hearing capacity.
- Drive automobile to meet job responsibilities.
- Use smartphones or company devices as required.
- Office, community work settings, in‑home supports, remote work, outdoor settings with varying weather.
