Send job## Job Details This role has been created to support Afghan refugee families who escaped Afghanistan and came to the UK under the ARAP or ACRS government schemes. Brent Council has pledged to house up to 16 families, additionally, following on from a promise made by the then Prime Minister, David Cameron, in 2015 to provide temporary asylum for 20,000 refugees from the camps of the borders of Syria in the United Kingdom (UK).
Between now and March 2020, fifty Syrian refugees will be housed in the London Borough of Brent. The post holder will provide support and assistance to both the Council, as well as to the refugees being housed in the Borough. He/she will be the primary point of contact between the Council, its partners, and external organisations including Citizens UK, the Syrian VPR LA Liaison Team in the Home Office, and the DWP.
In addition, the role holder will act as a case worker and liaison officer for the refugees ensuring they are suitably housed, adjusting, and acclimatizing to life in the UK and fulfilling the requirements of their accommodation in the borough. 2. To provide quality service and support to newly arrived refugee households in the borough. 3. To assist these households to become settled into their new home and help them to build resilience and engage with local services so that they become embedded within and integrated in their community.
4. To work across different department and organisations including, the Head of Housing Needs, School Admission, Early Education, and inclusion, DWP, Private Sector, the Home Office, local organisations and charities to develop and deliver support plans for each member of the household and ensure identified needs are actioned, making referrals referred to specialist support agencies as necessary. 5.
