  • Grade: D
  • Salary: £31,537 to £33,143 per annum (rising with annual increments to £33,143). More information on salaries and progression can be found on our pay and policies page.
  • Hours:

    Full Time – 37 hours per week
  • Location:

    Wiltshire – a specific centre of duty can be negotiated. The role will be based in the Salisbury area with flexibility to work from home, DWFRS Stations or Support Offices.
  • Flexible working:
    The service encourages flexible working and is open to flexible arrangements that work best for the successful candidate.
  • Travel:
    You must hold a full current driving licence and be able to fulfil the significant travel requirements of the role. Use of your own vehicle will be required; a Service vehicle (manual transmission only) will be available. Daily travel to schools and monthly team meetings within Dorset or Wiltshire is expected.
  • Appointment type:
    Temporary – 12 month fixed‑term contract (maternity cover) or until the return of the substantive postholder.

As an Education Advisor in our Prevention department you will:
  • Deliver safety education programmes within schools and colleges throughout the Wiltshire and Swindon area.
  • Coordinate our attendance at schools and colleges and act as a point of contact.
  • Keep accurate records of education delivery.
  • Work with our firefighters to support them in the delivery of education.
What makes you our ideal Education Advisor?
  • Experience delivering education within a school environment.
  • Ability to adapt to the diverse needs of children and young people.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office for all aspects of the role.
  • Strong communication skills: able to communicate professionally with adults and effectively present to children.
  • Understanding of safeguarding procedures.
Other Information
  • The role may involve some evening and weekend working – these requirements are infrequent and will be discussed in advance.
  • A rigorous selection process includes Enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) clearance prior to offer of employment.
  • Any offer of employment will be subject to full pre‑employment checks covering identity, right to work, medical, references, employment history, and explanation of any gaps in the last 5 years.
  • Working with children and young people is a regulated activity; anyone on the DBS barred list will not be eligible for this role.
