Job Description The Housing Support Assistant will work with vulnerable households including those identified within the Housing First and the UK Governments resettlement programmes to prevent homelessness arising. They will support households who are either in their own tenancy or who are in transition and working towards their own secured accommodation.## Requirements
1. To provide home management and life skills training.
2. To provide advice, support & liaison on accessing local support services.
3. To provide tenancy maintenance support.
4. To provide advocacy for clients where required.
5. To implement procedures and carry out duties as directed by the Housing Support Officer, Housing Support Supervisor or Refugee Resettlement Project Officer.
6. To assist and support with induction of any new start members or students.
7. To maintain the continual professional development required for SSSC registration.
8. To keep good records of contact with service users and to ensure that these are kept updated and that they are comprehensive for audit purposes.## Responsibilitiesn/a## The Individual

Experience of working with people with multiple needs.

Experience of multidisciplinary working.

SVQ 2 in Health and Social Care or equivalent in Housing or related field.

SSSC Registration
* or working towards.

Maintain SSSC registration through training and development of skills/knowledge.

Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team.

Ability to organise, plan, and monitor workloads.

Effective communication skills both oral and written.

To be able to work under pressure and prioritise workload.

The ability to gain the confidence of new citizens and/or people vulnerable to homelessness and ability to build up good rapport with them.

The ability to work in a multidisciplinary manner.

The ability to keep accurate records relating to involvement with service users.

You will be expected to travel efficiently and effectively between various work locations within Moray to meet the operational requirements of the Service. Due to the rural nature of Moray this is normally undertaken by use of a car.

Ability to relate to people with multiple needs in a calm, empathetic and confident manner.

Ability to be non-judgmental.

Ability to communicate complex information to confused and distressed citizens.

Home visits to clients in own Tenancies, Temporary Accommodation, and Hostels.

Flexibility to meet the needs and demands of the service.

Ability to work in an open plan office of home working environment as required.

Ability to work in different offices depending on the needs of the service.

This post is considered to be a ‘Regulated Role’ under the Disclosure (Scotland) Act 2020. Under the Act it is a legal requirement for an individual undertaking a regulated role with children or protected adults to be a member of the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) scheme. Therefore, the successful candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme Update check prior to any formal offer of employment being made by Moray Council.
