BCHA work closely with the Salvation Army to provide support to survivors of ‘modern slavery’.

The Liberty Project is recruiting a Specialist Support Worker to join our team based in Bournemouth. This role is based within our safe houses & in the community. It offers a unique opportunity to work directly with survivors of modern slavery and human trafficking, supporting them to rebuild their lives and move towards independence, safety, and long-term recovery.

• Provide trauma-informed, survivor-centred support
• Build trusting relationships that empower survivors to make informed choices and regain independence
• Support individuals to move forward into safe, stable, and abuse-free lives
• Contribute to specialist anti-slavery work delivered on behalf of the Home Office

• Work closely with survivors in a compassionate, empowering environment
• Develop specialist knowledge and experience in modern slavery and anti-trafficking advocacy
• Be part of a dedicated team delivering nationally significant work at the forefront of the anti-slavery sector

With 2025 marking 10 years since the Modern Slavery Act, this is an exciting and meaningful time to join a project shaping the future of survivor support.

• On-call:
  Participation in an on-call rota (paid in addition to salary)

A full driving licence and access to a vehicle are essential.

• Provide weekly 1-1 sessions with individual ‘survivors’ that are outcome focussed;
• Work within ‘professional boundaries’ and use trauma focused strategies;
• Listen to and build trust with ‘survivors’;
• Work with complex needs, challenging behaviours and manage presenting risks;
• Be an advocate on behalf of ‘survivors’;
• Build good working relationships with agencies and liaise effectively;
• Empower ‘survivors’ to find their own way and promote independence;
• Be self‑motivated, proactive, resilient, empathic and non‑judgemental;

Monday-Friday 9am-5pm with a share of the on call rota.
