Overview
Housing Solutions and Support Caseworkers — Permanent, Grade B, £28,598-£34,434 per annum. Working 36.5 hours per week. Hybrid working role (onsite attendance subject to service needs).
Birmingham City Council are recruiting for Housing Solutions and Support Caseworkers to join the team within Homelessness Services. This is a challenging role in a highly pressured environment at a time of significant change, and may involve co-location with other agencies to maximise access to services.
Responsibilities- Manage the day-to-day operation of the Housing Solutions & Support Case Worker Service.
- Interview and assess citizens who are homeless or at risk of homelessness.
- Communicate effectively with people who can be stressed or anxious, remaining calm and providing advice within a legal framework.
- Record interactions accurately and in detail on an IT system that records all interventions on behalf of the customer to prevent homelessness.
- Deliver expert housing advice and solutions; conduct thorough assessments and investigations; make referrals to other local authorities and support agencies; deliver high-quality case management; and make informed homeless decisions within statutory guidelines.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in work.
- Confidence in the use of systems and databases.
- Knowledge of working within social housing and homelessness; training is provided for those with experience in another social or people-facing field.
- Onsite attendance is subject to service needs as this is a hybrid role.
