Working Hours:
36.25 hours per week Trafford Council, a Living Wage Employer, is seeking experienced Social Workers to join our dynamic Children’s Services team. About the Role In Trafford Children’s Services, we aim to provide the right help at the right time, ensuring our interventions improve life for children and families.
We are looking for confident, creative, and dedicated social workers for our First Response and Support and Protect Services. These roles focus on long-term support and achieving permanence through Child Protection Planning or court proceedings when necessary. Day-to-Day Responsibilities Work within the First Response Service or Support and Protect Service, handling cases that may involve child protection, care proceedings, and private law applications.
Engage in strength-based, relational, and restorative practice to support children and families. Collaborate closely with multi-agency partners to enhance service delivery and respond to current reforms. Conduct thorough assessments, direct interventions, and provide effective support to manage complex family situations. Maintain high-quality, person-centred service across all written and verbal communications, including reports, assessments, and court evidence. Required
Skills & Qualifications Minimum of 2 years post-qualifying experience in social work, preferably within children’s services. Strong ability to work creatively and effectively, making a real difference in complex family dynamics. Excellent team player with a person-centred approach, evident in all professional outputs. Ability to engage effectively with children, young people, and families who may have challenging life experiences. Commitment to professional development and adherence to the highest ethical standards.
Benefits Competitive salary range of £40,777 - £42,839 per annum. 26 days of annual leave plus bank holidays, increasing to 31 days after 5 years, with the option to purchase up to 10 extra days yearly. Flexible working options including the ability to work from home and flex hours, plus up to 13 flexi days yearly.
