The Senior Lead Child Protection Practitioner (Senior LCPP) provides senior operational and strategic leadership across all Lead Child Protection Practitioners (LCPPs) within the Multi-Agency Child Protection Team (MACPT). The postholder will hold responsibility for ensuring consistently high standards of statutory safeguarding practice, robust threshold decision‑making, and cross‑system alignment with local and national safeguarding expectations.

The Senior LCPP will oversee, coordinate, and quality‑assure the work of all LCPPs, ensuring consistency, strong reflective practice, and a culture of high‑support and high‑challenge. They will lead complex and high‑risk child protection decision‑making, drive continuous improvement, and ensure that multi‑agency working is effective, purposeful, and aligned to the Council’s Families First / Family Help reforms.

The role acts as a key bridge between operational practice and senior safeguarding governance, informing strategic priorities while maintaining close oversight of frontline practice and lived experience of children.

The postholder will act as a conduit within the MACPT, bridging operational practice and strategic safeguarding priorities, and ensuring statutory child protection duties under the Children Act 1989 and Working Together to Safeguard Children are consistently met.
