The position reports to Manager, Residential Programs. We are seeking a dedicated Forensic Caseworker to join our dynamic team. This role provides essential support to residents transitioning from the Forensic Psychiatric Hospital and managing a caseload. Responsibilities include facilitating community integration through structured activities, developing tailored Resident Action Plans, ensuring access to medication, and assisting with budgeting, grocery shopping, and other life skills.
Community engagement with Parole Officers and Case Managers is crucial for advocating residents’ independence. This is an in‑person role with no opportunity to work from home.
- Establish positive communication with and maintain rapport with each resident.
- Develop, implement and sustain a Resident Action Plan suitable for each resident, encouraging participation.
- Meet weekly (minimum) with each resident and record these interactions on CAMS.
- Assist residents with their general needs, including facilitating referrals to community agencies such as JHSV Employment Programs.
- Provide access to prescribed medication as needed and follow the medication management policy.
- Maintain regular contact and communication updates with the parole officer and case manager of the forensic clinic for each resident.
- Ensure organization of house health and safety measures to ensure client safety, meeting all fire, health and safety regulations.
- Monitor residents for substance misuse violations and breaches of conditions set by the Parole Board of Canada and/or the BC Review Board; document and report violations to the Parole Officer or Forensic Case Manager.
- Conduct and document rounds and bed checks at irregular intervals, at least twice during each shift at Manchester House, Gelling Manor, and Maxfield House.
