Join Capita as a Trainee DSA Needs Assessor and be part of our team providing Disabled Students’ Allowance (DSA) services. We work with the Student Loans Company (SLC) to offer a seamless digital experience for students in East England, the Midlands, London and Wales. Our services include needs assessments, sourcing equipment, training, and ongoing support for around 30,000 university students annually.

What you’ll do- Complete training to become qualified to work with students with a variety of disabilities.
- Hold structured meetings with individuals to identify appropriate study and support strategies, including Non-Medical Helper (NMH) and travel support where appropriate.
- Evaluate the suitability of and advise on hardware, software, assistive technology and other aids for each individual.
- Produce formal written needs assessment reports in accordance with relevant guidance and KPIs.
- Respond to post-assessment queries from customers or relevant Funding Bodies within the required timeframe.
- Conduct reviews of a customer’s needs when requested.
- Exemplary communication skills with excellent report writing abilities and attention to detail.
- Some experience in an education or training setting, ideally with work involving disabled students.
- Aware of the DSA funding guidance.
- Adept at working to strict KPIs and producing high-quality work.
- Ability to work independently while also collaborating with colleagues; reliable, dependable, and well-organised.
