Location: dryden
As per Recommendation #114 of the Seven Youth Inquest, there has been an identified need for an alternative detoxification facility that would provide the proper supports and supervision for any youth who may be struggling with alcohol/substance misuse. The KOBE Inquest Safe Sobering Space will be available 24/7 for our students, aged 13-21 years, that need a safe and supervised detoxification and stabilization.
Salary: $48,000 – $81,468
Qualifications Education & Experience- Diploma in a related field such as Social Work
- Preferred:
Degree in Social Work - Experience in school and counselling environments
- Experience working within First Nations mental health and counselling programs
- 5+ years of education-related work experience
- Ability to speak a local First Nations dialect is an asset
- Knowledge of First Nation education and health issues, challenges, and service delivery models
- Understanding of child development (physical, emotional, developmental)
- Knowledge of First Nations history, traditions, and cultural practices
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills (written and oral)
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong documentation, report writing, and organizational skills
- Effective time management and ability to prioritize deadlines
- Conflict resolution skills
- Ability to work with small and large student groups
- Crisis response and trauma-informed practice experience
- Proficiency with computer programs and report compilation
- Provide immediate crisis support to the Safe Sober Site Team
- Maintain a culturally safe environment for students during detox
- Develop and update after-care plans and ensure timely follow-up with students
- Coordinate with Safe Sober Site Workers, On-Call Workers, and Well Being Team during incidents
- Track, record, and report all incidents, after-care services, referrals, and service gaps
- Create annual preventive addiction workshop plans and deliver or coordinate training for students
- Update and maintain Safe Sober Site guidelines with relevant teams
- Communicate with boarding homes, schools, parents, and staff regarding student after-care
- Refer students to appropriate community agencies for counselling or cultural programming
- Maintain effective case management and documentation
- Attend mandatory training and participate in cross‑training roles when needed
- Travel to KO communities to support students who return home during the school year
- Collaborate with Student Services staff and external partners to strengthen services
- Carry out additional duties as assigned by the Well Being Unit or KOBE Management
