Central Toronto Youth Services (CTYS) is an accredited Children’s Mental Health Centre with a range of services and programs for youth and families across Toronto. These services are client-centered and flexible, geared for youth and families with a range of mental health needs who may have difficulty accessing traditional office-based services. Central Toronto Youth Services (CTYS) is seeking a Youth and Family Counsellor to join our Pride and Prejudice team. The Pride & Prejudice Program specifically supports youth aged 12-24 exploring sexual and gender identity, coming out, interpersonal conflicts, experiences of trauma and mental health challenges. This position will be primarily responsible for providing individual, group, and family counselling to 2

SLGBTQIA+ youth and their families.

Responsibilities   Provide individual, group, and family therapy (or family work).
Provide time-limited (6-18 months) therapy services that are informed by trauma, attachment, and family systems theories using affirming gender and sexuality counselling approaches.
Provide flexible services that ensure accessibility for youth and families including after school appointments plus two evenings a week.
Work collaboratively with youth, parents, school personnel and other service providers.
Develop individualized and effective service delivery plans using a strength-based and youth and family engagement perspective.
Provide limited case management support for transitions to community services.
Complete documentation and clinical reports in a timely manner.
Participate on internal CTYS or external 2

SLGBTQIA+ committees.
Qualifications   Graduate degree in social work, counselling, psychotherapy or relevant degree and/or equivalent professional education and/or experience.
Minimum two years’ experience working in Children’s Mental Health setting.
Membership with a professional regulatory body permitted to practice psychotherapy in Ontario (OCSWSSW, CRPO).
Membership in and identification with 2

SLGBTQIA+ (priority given to membership in the Trans, non-binary and BIPOC communities).
Comprehensive knowledge of the issues, needs and Toronto resources for 2

SLGBTQIA+ youth.
Expertise in working with Trans, non-binary and gender questioning youth.
Knowledge of and commitment to practice from an anti-racist and anti-oppression framework.
Knowledge of and commitment to evidence-informed practice.
Experience supporting family members of transgender and non-binary youth, individually & in group.
Experience in assessment, counselling and case coordination with 2

SLGBTQIA+ youth experiencing serious mental health challenges.
Experience in providing trauma-informed and family systems interventions and crisis support/safety planning.
Strong communication and computer technology skills.
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build rapport with youth and their families.
Must be available to work two evenings per week.
Clear Vulnerable Sector Screening Check required.
Proficiency in French and/or another language is an asset.
Start Date  March 2026
Compensation and Benefits   Salary Range:  66,463.16 – 79,360.49 (1 FTE)
0.8 FTE:  53,170.52 – 63,488.39
