Overview
Telford and Wrekin Council are seeking to appoint a committed careers professional(s) to join our Future Focus Careers Team. The position is a full‑time role but we will also consider appointing as two part‑time posts, depending on the candidate(s). We are looking for flexible, passionate individuals who will work with young people to help them make positive post‑16 choices and successful progressions into further education, training and employment opportunities.
Telford & Wrekin Council has maintained its pre‑ and post‑16 careers offer, now called Future Focus, delivering a traded service to local schools and maintaining a case‑work approach to young people not in education, employment or training.
Responsibilities- Be mobile to meet young people and their families at places that suit them, with initial operating base at our Future Focus drop‑in centre in Southwater One, Darby House.
- Build effective relationships with individuals on your caseload and use a range of strategies to help young people make appropriate careers choices, motivate them to take action and support their transitions between school and post‑16 options and from post‑16 onwards.
- Work with a range of local schools and post‑16 providers to ensure young people move forward in their transitions to further learning, training, employment or other appropriate services.
- Deliver statutory and traded services within schools and colleges while meeting national professional standards.
- Level 4 qualification in Careers Guidance/Information, Advice and Guidance, with the ability to work towards a Level 6.
- Full driving licence and access to a car available and insured for business use, as the role involves working across Telford & Wrekin.
- For roles involving children or vulnerable adults, a criminal records check is required.
