Counselor - Voice & Chat Support

As a Counselor, you will provide real-time emotional support, psychoeducation, and structured guidance to users through voice and chat sessions on the Soul Sync platform. Sessions are initiated by users on demand, and you choose your own availability.

This is not clinical psychotherapy. Instead, it is evidence-informed supportive counseling designed to help individuals navigate everyday stress, anxiety, relationship challenges, career pressures, grief, self-esteem concerns, and overall emotional well-being.

Key Responsibilities

Conduct real-time voice and chat sessions with users on topics including stress, anxiety, relationship challenges, grief, self-esteem, career transitions, and general emotional well-being.
Apply evidence-based approaches such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Transactional Analysis (TA), mindfulness, motivational interviewing, or solution-focused techniques, as appropriate to your training.
Maintain accurate session notes within the Soul Sync platform to support quality assurance and continuity of care.
Adhere to ethical guidelines relating to confidentiality, informed consent, and professional boundaries at all times.
Identify and appropriately escalate cases involving risk of harm, severe mental illness, or crisis situations in accordance with Soul Sync protocols.
Maintain a minimum session rating of 4.0/5.0 across rolling 30-day evaluation periods.
Complete the mandatory platform induction training (approximately four hours, self-paced) before going live.
Participate in scheduled online group supervision sessions (60 minutes).

Essential Qualifications

Certificate or Diploma in Counselling, Psychology, Social Work, or a related field (minimum qualification for the Listener tier).
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Psychology, Counselling, Clinical Psychology, Social Work, or a related mental health discipline (required for the Associate tier and above).
Proficiency in at least one of the following languages:
English, Hindi, Tamil, Kannada, Telugu, Marathi, or Bengali.
Access to a reliable smartphone or computer with a stable internet connection and a quiet, private space for conducting sessions.

Clear communication:  Ability to communicate calmly, clearly, and accessibly without unnecessary jargon.
Emotional regulation:  The ability to remain calm, grounded, and non-reactive during emotionally challenging conversations.
Ethical awareness:  A sound understanding of confidentiality, informed consent, mandated reporting, and professional boundaries.
Cultural sensitivity:  Comfort working with individuals from diverse socioeconomic, regional, cultural, and religious backgrounds.
Digital literacy:  Confidence using mobile apps, scheduling tools, messaging platforms, and digital documentation systems.

Nice to Have

Experience providing teletherapy or remote mental health support.
RCI registration or eligibility (required for the Specialist tier).
Training in crisis intervention through organisations such as iCall, Vandrevala Foundation, or an equivalent programme.
Familiarity with NIMHANS protocols or other structured counselling frameworks.
Fluency in more than one regional language.
