Exclusion & Reintegration Officer

We are looking to appoint an Exclusion & Re-integration Officer to join our team as soon as possible.

The Exclusion & Re-integration Officer will lead on delivering the Local Authority’s statutory duties in respect of exclusions. The successful candidate will act as the lead professional for exclusions and will work closely with Headteachers, senior staff in schools, governors and partner organisations supporting the development and organisation of procedures and policies in relation to school exclusion, in accordance with legislation, national guidance and local policy.

If required you will also provide advice on the legal process to parents of a child who has been excluded.

The Exclusions and Re-integration Officer will represent the Local Authority at Governors Discipline Hearings, Independent Review Panels and courts in line with The School Discipline (Pupil Exclusions and reviews) (England) Regulations 2012, to ensure that the local authority is discharging its statutory duties in relation to exclusions.

The successful candidate will be able to prioritise their own workload whilst working proactively with a number of schools. The ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines is essential. The successful applicant will have highly developed communication skills and have had experience of working with vulnerable children, young people and their families. In addition you will have the skills and experience to display good problem solving skills, along with a passion for multi-agency working, being able to negotiate and act as an advocate as and when necessary.

A degree in a relevant subject (such as Health, Social Care, or Education) and a full UK driving licence are essential for this role.
