We are seeking to appoint one Assistant Educational Psychologists (AsEP) to join our team working across the Aylesbury Vale, Wycombe and Chiltern & South Buckinghamshire areas. They will provide support to Educational Psychologists (EPs) in schools and the wider community, as well as participating in the delivery and evaluation of programme interventions.

Our large and talented team consists of Educational Psychologists, AsEPs, and Trainee EPs. The EPs are led by a dynamic leadership team of Seniors, Deputies and the Principal EP, providing excellent line management and good potential for progression within the service. We offer a hybrid model of consultation and assessment-based advice, blending face-to-face and remote working opportunities.

About the role

We wish to appoint an enthusiastic Assistant Educational Psychologist who is planning a future career as an Educational Psychologist.

The AsEP role offers a varied and rewarding opportunity to support the work of Educational Psychologists across schools and the wider service. The post involves working in school settings, directly with children and young people, their families, and education staff. This includes supporting assessment, observations, and interventions, as well as contributing to person-centred and solution-focused work.

Alongside this direct work, AsEPs play an important role in supporting the Educational Psychology team through office-based activities. This may include preparing reports, undertaking research, supporting service delivery, and assisting with the development of resources and training.

The role provides valuable experience of applied psychology in real-world contexts, with a strong emphasis on promoting positive outcomes for children and young people through collaborative, evidence-informed practice. The role also includes administrative tasks to ensure effective delivery of the EP service.

Any-Desk:

As an ‘any-desk’ worker, you’ll need to be connected to our network to access digital folders and resources, but this can either be from home or an office location when required. You will be required to work from the office a couple of times a week, depending on your role and team requirements*.

About you

All applicants must have a BPS recognised degree qualification in Psychology equivalent to an upper second-class Bachelor's degree (2:1 or above). Applicants with a lower second-class Bachelor's degree (2:2) but with a further academic qualification at Master's level will also be considered.

It is an essential requirement to have at least 2 years recent experience of applying psychology to work with children and young people in educational or community settings. A driving licence and access to a car is also essential to the post.
