Hybrid – 1 Day Office Based / 4 Days Remote

Job Description:

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Housing Options Officer to join a busy local authority Housing Needs team on a 3-month contract.

The successful candidate will manage a caseload of homelessness and housing options cases, providing advice and support to applicants in accordance with the Housing Act 1996 (as amended) and the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017. You will be responsible for carrying out housing assessments, creating Personalised Housing Plans, making statutory decisions, and working proactively to prevent and relieve homelessness.

Key Responsibilities:

* Managing a caseload of housing options and homelessness applications.

* Conducting homelessness assessments and determining statutory duties.

* Producing Personalised Housing Plans (PHPs).

* Providing housing advice and prevention solutions.

* Making decisions under Parts VI and VII of the Housing Act 1996.

* Liaising with internal departments and external agencies to secure positive outcomes for applicants.

* Maintaining accurate case records and ensuring compliance with legislation and local procedures.

Requirements:

* Previous experience working as a Housing Options Officer, Housing Needs Officer, Housing Advice Officer, Housing Solutions Officer, or Homelessness Officer within a local authority.

* Strong working knowledge of the Housing Act 1996 and Homelessness Reduction Act 2017.

* Experience managing homelessness prevention and relief duties.

* Ability to work independently and manage a busy caseload.

Contract Details:

* Initial 3-month contract.

* Hybrid working arrangement.

* 1 day per week in the office, remainder home-based.

* Competitive hourly rate
