Job Overview
South Lanarkshire Council invites applications for a permanent Scheduling Assistant to support Home Carers across the council. This role is part of a team that schedules and allocates work, utilises IT systems and promotes continuous improvement to deliver high‑quality service.
Key Responsibilities- Schedule and allocate work for Home Carers within the community.
- Use IT programmes and scheduling systems to manage caseloads.
- Respond to telephone calls from individuals experiencing difficulty or distress, maintaining a calm and professional tone.
- Manage and prioritise competing demands, ensuring expectations are met and outcomes are positive.
- Identify and implement quality improvement initiatives in accordance with council procedures.
- Collaborate with team members and stakeholders to support vulnerable people.
Location:
South Vennel, Lanark
Hours:
35 hours per week (full‑time) or 26.25 hours per week (part‑time) – permanent
Shift pattern: a four‑week rotational roster comprising two weeks of day shift (6.30 am to 3.30 pm, weekdays 7 am to 4 pm office based) and two weeks of back shift (3 pm to 11 pm). When not in the office, you will work from home.
Salary: £16.07 – £16.30 per hour, with additional increments for unsocial hours.
- Interest and understanding of IT programmes, with practical experience of scheduling systems, databases and Microsoft Office.
- Previous administrative or scheduling experience, especially in a fast‑paced or customer‑facing environment.
- Strong organisational skills, accuracy and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage telephone calls and support people in distress.
- Experience in handling difficult situations, communicating effectively and influencing positive outcomes.
- Demonstrated ability to balance competing priorities and manage expectations.
