Roles & Responsibilities

Deliver Accredited Programmes and Structured Interventions to people in community orders or on licence after release from prison. Provide group work and individual support, promote desistance from crime, build strengths, and lead pro‑social lives.

Key duties include:

  • Conduct group and one‑to‑one sessions with offenders, including those convicted of domestic abuse, sexual abuse and violent offences.
  • Monitor progress, risk and wellbeing throughout the intervention.
  • Keep accurate records and share insights with relevant teams.
  • Work closely with courts and criminal justice agencies to support sentence management.
  • Provide workshops and briefings to probation staff and external stakeholders.
  • Use pro‑social modelling to reinforce positive behaviours.

Responsibilities also include extensive training, completion of a 6‑month probationary period, assessment centre participation and meeting the Competency Based Framework (CBF) for pay progression.

Salary and Working Hours

Base salary £28,064 per annum, with unsocial hours payments: 30 % for evenings and 50 % for Saturdays.

Work will primarily be in the evening, with regular travel across the region, and may include weekly Saturdays.

Travel and Location

Travel to various regional sites is required; travel expenses can be claimed.

Nationality

Open to: UK nationals; nationals of the Republic of Ireland; nationals of Commonwealth countries with right to work in UK; EU, Switzerland, Norway, Iceland or Liechtenstein nationals and settled or pre‑settled family members;
Turkish nationals and certain family members; and individuals with limited or indefinite leave to remain who were eligible to apply for EUSS on or before 31 December 2020.

Salary Band

New entrants will join at the entry level salary for the advertised band; existing civil servants will have salary calculated per transfer rules.
