This is an exciting opportunity to join Cambridgeshire Youth Justice Service as a Diversion Support Worker. This is a key role in our multi-disciplinary service and primarily you will be expected to engage, assess and work directly and creatively with children and young people who are at risk of offending or who have offended.
This is a varied job, and you will also need to be able to effectively support parents/carers and work in partnership with other agencies to keep children and others safe. You will work closely with other agencies such as targeted support, social care, schools and police.
This role will include organising and running group work with young people and completing positive activities with them on a 1:1 basis or taking groups of young people on day trips. You will hold the skills necessary to complete these activities confidently and manage risk; being able to de‑escalate conflict where required. You will hold creative strengths and be able to have innovative ideas in reducing ASB and offending behaviours in and out of the community.
We are seeking a dynamic individual who is Child First in their approach and who is keen to work collaboratively with young people, helping to support changes and solutions in difficult and often complex situations. The role can be fast paced and is ideally suited to someone with excellent communication skills, who has experience in engaging young people positively and effectively and who has the necessary skills to case‑manage.
You will visit young people at their home, in schools or other community venues and there is also the opportunity to work from home regularly. The post holder could be based in Fawcett House, Scott House or Awdry House and will be expected to cover the entire area of Cambridgeshire; however, cases will be allocated nearer to your work base where possible.
This is a 9‑month fixed‑term position initially.
Job interviews will take place on the 1st September 2026.
