Job Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated, dynamic and forward‑thinking Safeguarding Specialist to join the Safeguarding team on a permanent basis and be part of our improvement journey.
You'll be an integral part of the safeguarding team, working autonomously, reliably, and flexibly, demonstrating expertise in safeguarding.
Key Responsibilities- Provide comprehensive safeguarding support, working closely with the Safeguarding Management Team while independently managing priorities, non‑routine tasks and an unpredictable workload.
- Act as a key point of contact for safeguarding enquiries, responding to communications from patients, families, staff, external organisations and multi‑disciplinary partners, while ensuring concerns are appropriately assessed and escalated.
- Handle complex, sensitive and confidential safeguarding information, maintaining compliance with statutory and information governance requirements, including data protection, records management and confidentiality standards.
- Support safeguarding operations across Primary Care by advising frontline staff, assisting with safeguarding enquiries, monitoring safeguarding reviews and Section 42 enquiries, and maintaining effective stakeholder relationships.
- Provide administrative, information and reporting support to the Safeguarding Clinical Lead and Hub Manager, including contributing to policy development, service monitoring, performance reporting and continuous improvement activities.
- Maintain high standards of professional practice through effective team working, proficiency in relevant IT systems, accurate record keeping, and completion of all required training and development.
Flexible – one full‑time candidate or multiple part‑time candidates. Variable rota spanning Monday to Saturday. Remote working is available; on‑site presence may be required for IT issues.
Qualifications and ExperienceEssential: Level 3 Safeguarding Adults and Children training; strong understanding of safeguarding legislation; ability to recognise abuse indicators and report concerns appropriately; professional under pressure handling sensitive situations; effective negotiation, mediation and relationship building; strong attention to detail, prioritisation, and ability to work independently and collaboratively.
Desirable: Level 4 Safeguarding Adults and Children training (or willingness to undertake); safeguarding supervision training; ability to triage safeguarding concerns, identify risk, and support appropriate interventions and escalation; experience using NHS systems such as Adastra, NHS Spine and NHS Pathways.
Additional CriteriaCompletion of required DBS check; satisfactory references.
