Qualification - Social Work Qualification and registration with Social Work England

DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) clearance - this post is covered by the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (amended in 2013). Appointable candidates will be required to apply for an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. Information provided by you or the DBS will be dealt with in a confidential manner and in accordance with the DBS Code of Practice which can be viewed here.

Medical Clearance - Pre-placement health assessment (PPHA)

Casual Car Documentation - The successful candidate will be a designated Casual Car User which means that car journeys may be necessary on an occasional basis, but are not essential to the role. If you do drive, you must always hold a full valid driving licence and provide your own car for use at work, as well as provide all the appropriate documentation.

You will receive an allowance per mile of business use.

If so, Manchester City Council/Manchester Local Care Organisation is looking for an exceptional Domestic Abuse & Safeguarding Team Manager to lead our specialist service and drive innovation, partnership working, and outstanding safeguarding practice across the city.

This is an exciting opportunity to take operational leadership of Manchester’s Independent Domestic Violence Advisory Service (IDVA) and coordinate Adult Social Care’s response within Multi-Agency Risk Assessment Conferences (MARAC) across the city. You will also play a key role in supporting participation within MAPPA
, contributing to Domestic Abuse Related Death Reviews, and ensuring compliance with statutory responsibilities under the Care Act 2014, Mental Capacity Act 2005, and Domestic Abuse Act 2021
.

As Team Manager, you will lead a team of skilled practitioners, creating a positive, inclusive, and high-performing culture where staff can thrive and residents receive the highest standards of support and protection.

You'll Have The Opportunity To

  • Lead and manage a specialist domestic abuse and safeguarding team to deliver high-quality, person-centred services.
  • Provide expert consultation, advice, and guidance on complex domestic abuse and adult safeguarding cases.
  • Drive best practice across Adult Social Care and partner agencies, helping to shape the city's response to domestic abuse.
  • Work closely with voluntary sector organisations, safeguarding partners, health colleagues, and criminal justice agencies.
  • Identify emerging risks and patterns of harm within Manchester's communities and develop effective interventions.
  • Lead learning from Domestic Homicide Reviews and help ensure that lessons are embedded into practice.
We're looking for a confident and compassionate leader who combines professional expertise with the ability to inspire and motivate others.

You'll Bring

A recognised Social Work qualification.

Registration with Social Work England
.

Significant experience in adult safeguarding, domestic abuse, and complex risk management.

Strong knowledge of relevant legislation, safeguarding frameworks, and multi-agency working.

Proven leadership and people management experience, with the ability to develop high-performing teams.

Excellent communication, analytical, decision-making, and partnership-working skills.

Experience as an Experienced Social Worker, including Practice Educator, Best Interest Assessor, or Approved Mental Health Professional.

Candidate will be subject to an Enhanced DBS check.
