Job Description & How to Apply Below

Company Description

The Organisme d intervention communautaire spécialisée (OICS) is a non-profit organization based in Dieppe, New Brunswick, dedicated to building safer, fairer, and more inclusive communities. Its work focuses on prevention with youth, families, and people at risk; reintegration for individuals in contact with the justice system; and community safety through strong partnerships rather than crisis response. OICS delivers services in both French and English across Greater Moncton and southeastern New Brunswick, using an evidence-based approach supported by a digital platform that tracks outcomes over time.

The organization invests in structured training with more than 30 modules and continuously measures the impact of its interventions. Supported by Public Safety Canada, OICS also leads ReCode Noir, an Afrocentric reintegration initiative, and is developing a community centre and transition housing to expand its reach.

Role Description

The Technicien en criminologie is a full-time hybrid role based in Saint John, New Brunswick, with a combination of on-site work and some work-from-home flexibility. The role involves conducting criminological assessments, supporting case management, and documenting client pathways using OICS’s digital platform. The professional will engage directly with youth, families, and individuals involved with the justice system, contributing to prevention, reintegration, and community safety activities.

Typical tasks include coordinating follow-ups, maintaining accurate records of housing, employment, and judicial compliance indicators, and collaborating with community and institutional partners. The Technicien en criminologie will also help implement evidence-based interventions, participate in training modules, and contribute to program evaluation and continuous improvement.

Qualifications
  • Strong skills in criminological assessment, case management, and client support in community or justice-related settings.
  • Ability to collect, analyze, and document data using digital platforms, with attention to indicators such as housing, employment, and compliance.
  • Excellent communication skills in English and French, including the ability to work respectfully with diverse populations and community partners.
  • Capacity to work both independently and collaboratively in a hybrid environment, managing time and priorities across on-site and remote tasks.
  • Post-secondary education in criminology, social work, psychology, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • Knowledge of the Canadian justice system, community reintegration practices, and trauma-informed, culturally responsive approaches; familiarity with Afrocentric perspectives is an asset.
  • Experience in non-profit, community intervention, or public safety programs is an advantage, as is prior work with youth, families, or people at risk.
