Good Afternoon,

I am currently representing Slough Council, who are offering an initial temporary contract for a period of 12 months with a view to be extended or offered a permanent position for the right candidate at a rate which is negotiable dependent upon experience

We are looking for a Recovery Officer this role will be based at: 2 Days Remote Working 3 days office based. SL1 2EJ

The right candidate will:

* Proactively maximise rental income, applying procedures in line with legislation in a sensitive and caring manner.

* Proactively apply current knowledge of Housing law, policies and practices to court action from pre-court to issue of proceedings and enforcement of order. This can include advice, investigation, and support at pre-court meetings, whilst balancing risk to the council.

* Maintain and monitor possession cases to ensure they are dealt with in a timely manner, while also complying with the pre-action protocol principles of encouraging pre-action contact and exchange of information, enabling settlement and ensuring effective use of court time. Engage with tenants via the most appropriate means, including written communication, face to face meetings, home visits and surgeries.

* Negotiate payment arrangements based upon the tenants’ individual circumstances, income and expenditure commitments and in line with agreed Policies and Procedures. Interview tenants in relation to rent arrears either by office interview, home visit or rent arrears surgery as appropriate. This may include occasional promotional events.

* Recommend court action and evictions via a comprehensive report. Conduct pre-court and pre-eviction panels in line with Pre-Court Protocol. Prepare court applications and compile evidence and attend any Stay hearing. Attend court where authorised under s.60 of the County Court Act 1984.

* Refer tenants where necessary to other debt management organisations for independent advice, support and guidance. Refer to in-house departments such as Income Boost and Tenancy Sustainment Officers. Ensure effective support referrals are made in relation to vulnerable tenants and ensure any case relating to such clients are dealt with sensitively.

We require the following:

* Experience in Rent recovery/ Income Recovery in Housing Environment, including Temporary Accommodation.

* Proven record of effectively managing complex debt recovery cases and maximising income to the organisation.

* Comprehensive understanding of income collection and housing issues, supported by substantial hands-on experience and knowledge of policy and best practice
