We are seeking an experienced, dynamic and ambitious Social Work Service Manager to lead high-performing teams, shape strategic priorities, and drive excellence across our social work services. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key leadership role in delivering meaningful outcomes for people, families, and communities.
As a pivotal member of our leadership team, you will influence the future direction of services, lead transformation and improvement programmes, and ensure the highest standards of professional practice. Working collaboratively with partners and stakeholders, you'll combine strategic vision with operational expertise to deliver innovative, person-centred services that make a real difference.

Home / Hybrid Working Consideration

Please Note:
All home/hybrid workers must live in the UK. Where an application for home-working is supported, it will be subject to a satisfactory trial period. Employees will be expected to attend Council offices for the duration of induction, and be on site in East Lothian workplaces, as required. Employees with a hybrid working arrangement in place will be office based and able to work from home, with permission, on an ad hoc basis.
To manage and organise the Justice Social Work and MHO services alongside maintaining an overview of the statutory social work requirements across East Lothian, ensuring that the provision of services, including assessment, monitoring and ongoing support, are co-ordinated, consumer responsive, operating within agreed standards and priorities, and managed within approved budgets.

Job RequirementsDegree in Social Work (or other recognised Social Work Qualification, i.e. CQSW, Dip SW, CCETSW) or equivalent level of qualification in Occupational Therapy.
Driving Licence
A full current driving licence and/or access to a vehicle are desirable for this post
PVG Membership
This post is considered as a Regulated Role with vulnerable children and/or protected adults, as specified in the Disclosure (Scotland) Act 2020.
All preferred candidates for posts carrying out regulated work with these groups will be required to become a PVG Scheme member, or undergo a PVG Scheme update if they are already a member, prior to any formal offer of employment being made by East Lothian Council.
