Children and Young People Services are seeking to recruit a social care officer to join their Intake Team. The Intake team works with children and families who are referred into the service where there are safeguarding issues or support needs which require a statutory response. The team undertakes Wellbeing assessments to inform the next steps in supporting and safeguarding children and families.

This is an exciting opportunity for a hardworking and enthusiastic individual, within a busy team, who would like to gain further experiences within Childrens Social Care or who may be considering Social Worker as a career opportunity.

All our Social Care Officers have access to excellent training, including the opportunity to consider training to become Social Workers.

Pay Details: Grade 6 SCP 14-19 (£30,515 - £33,119) per annum

Hours of Work / Working Pattern: 37 hours
Monday – Thursday 8.30 – 5.00 Friday 8.30 – 4.30

Main Place of Work: You will have access to office space in Barry and work across the Vale of Glamorgan, including the opportunity to work from home according to the needs of the service.

Description: As a Social Care Officer, you will support children, young people and their families/carers, in line with the relevant legislation, guidance, regulations and national standards. You will work independently, and as part of a multi-agency team, undertaking assessments in partnership with children, young people and families to enable them to achieve the outcomes they want to and that meet their needs.

You will need:

• Experience of working with children, young people and their families.
• Experience of working in a team.
• Experience of collating and evaluating information.
• Awareness and understanding of the issues in relation to children with complexity of need.
• Knowledge of child development.
• Knowledge of different types of social work intervention.
