Young People’s Advisor

The service delivers direct, practical support to young people who are not in education, employment, or training (NEET), helping them to overcome barriers and progress towards positive outcomes. This includes building trusted relationships, offering tailored interventions, and providing ongoing guidance to support sustained engagement and long-term success

Young People’s Services also provides person‑centred support to vulnerable young people, enabling them to navigate their post‑16 pathways and achieve their aspirations. Working in partnership with education providers and key stakeholders, the service identifies those at risk of disengagement and ensures they receive appropriate support to meet their duty to participate in education or training. The team supports young people to secure and sustain positive next steps, whether in further education, training, or employment.

About

the role

To provide direct, practical support to NEET young people, helping them overcome barriers and move towards education, employment, or training. The role focuses on building trusted relationships and delivering tailored interventions that promote positive outcomes.

To deliver high-quality, trauma‑informed, and inclusive support to young people aged 13‑19 years (up to 25 with send) across Cheshire West and Chester, with a focus on those who are NEET, have SEND needs, EHCPs, or are care experienced.

The role promotes engagement in education, employment, and training (EET), and contributes to the fulfilment of statutory duties and local priorities.

You’ll be someone who:

  • Provides information advice and guidance to targeted young people that builds trusting relationships enabling them to identify goals, overcome barriers, and achieve positive outcomes.
  • Maintain a caseload of young people, ensuring timely, inclusive, and responsive support.
  • Ensure young people’s voices are central to planning and decision‑making
  • Ensure compliance with safeguarding responsibilities, health and safety regulations, and data protection principles.
  • Good communication and listening skills
  • Good organisation skills.
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Committed to flexible working
  • Capable of working under pressure
  • Driving License and use of own vehicle
