How you'll make a difference
As a Social Worker within the Adult Strategic Safeguarding team, you will play a vital role in protecting and promoting the wellbeing of vulnerable adults across our community. Working collaboratively with care providers and partner organisations, you will ensure the delivery of safe, high-quality care and support, driving positive outcomes and strengthening safeguarding practice.
What you will be doing- Under the guidance of a Team Manager or Senior Practitioner, you will take a proactive role in the supporting the day‑to‑day running of the team, including providing advice and guidance to service providers, the council’s operational, contracts and commissioning teams and external partner agencies.
- To achieve the best outcomes for service users, you will be responsible for responding to safeguarding concerns, contributing to organisational safeguarding enquiries, recording and evidencing decision‑making, and supporting the development and monitoring of action plans to improve outcomes for adults at risk.
- Working in a dynamic and fast‑paced environment, you will effectively manage competing priorities, and maintain accurate, confidential records using a range of information systems to record, analyse and manage data.
- Supported by a Team Manager or Senior Practitioner, you will contribute to complex decision‑making, considering levels of risk associated with safeguarding concerns. This will require a sound understanding of the legal framework and the application of multi‑agency policies and procedures.
- It is essential you hold a relevant professional qualification in social work or equivalent and be registered with Social Work England (SWE/HCPC).
- You must bring relevant experience of working within a social care setting, including managing complex cases.
- We are looking for someone who can demonstrate evidence of on‑going continuous professional development, knowledge of current legislation and practice relating to safeguarding. and the ability to assess and manage risk.
- To ensure good quality care and support, you must to be a confident decision‑maker and effective problem solver, with a genuine commitment to working collaboratively with providers.
- Given the nature of this work, you will thrive in a fast‑paced environment, remain open to challenges, adapt positively to change, and demonstrate excellent time management to work efficiently and meet service requirements.
- The role is a 6-month limited term contract.
- This role is hybrid, you will be required to work in the office orwithin the community, with occasional days working at home.
- You will be expected to travel throughout the authority and surrounding area so must have a full valid driving licence with regular access to a vehicle or have alternative appropriate means of travel.
- Business insurance will need to be added to your insurance policy and you can claim back mileage expenses.
- Please note that due to the nature of this role it is a requirement of employment that an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check is obtained for this post.
Interviews are likely to be held week commencing 28th September.
