Family Support Specialist

About the Role

Our client is seeking a dedicated Family Support Specialist to provide crucial assistance and guidance to families in need within the Mossel Bay region. This role is focused on empowering families by offering resources, counseling, and support services designed to strengthen family bonds and improve overall well-being. You will work with families facing various challenges, helping them to develop coping mechanisms and access essential community support.

This remote position allows you to leverage technology to connect with and support families across the Western Cape , making a significant difference from the comfort of your home.

• Conduct assessments of family needs and develop tailored support plans.
• Provide counseling and guidance to families on parenting, communication, and conflict resolution.
• Connect families with appropriate community resources, such as childcare, healthcare, and financial assistance.
• Offer emotional support and encouragement to families navigating difficult circumstances.
• Facilitate virtual workshops and support groups for families.
• Maintain accurate and confidential case notes and progress reports.

• Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Psychology, Family Studies, or a related field.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience working directly with families in a support or counseling capacity.
• Knowledge of family systems theory and best practices in family support.
• Excellent communication, active listening, and empathy skills.
• Proficiency in using virtual communication platforms and managing remote caseloads.
• Familiarity with social services and resources available in the Western Cape .
