The Role

Working Hours:

35 Hours per week (As part of a rota, working Monday to Friday between 7am to 8pm, and 1 in 3 Saturdays between 9am and 5pm. Please see the attached example rota as a guide for a possible shift pattern under additional information)

About the Role You will have line management responsibility for a team of Anti-Social Behaviour (ASB) Support Officers who are dedicated and motivated to make Manchester a safe place to live, work and visit. This vacancy presents a rare opportunity to join a team recognised for best practice in tackling ASB. You will lead and support your team to use a broad range of informal and formal powers to tackle ASB in public spaces, using trauma-informed practice to protect those who are vulnerable, helping to reduce crime and ASB, and change the behaviour of offenders.  

You will also be working closely with the Homelessness Service to help prevent and reduce rough sleeping across the City.

You will lead on face-to-face public engagement, encouraging a high profile, visible presence with partner agencies across the City.  The role will involve close partnership working with GMP and a number of key partner agencies.

You and your team will work a rota pattern between the hours of am 7– 8pm Monday to Friday, and 9am – 5pm on Saturday.

About the team / service

The Anti Social Behaviour Team is comprised of three teams covering the City Centre, the North, and South and Central.  This position will cover the whole city. The Anti Social Behaviour Team is part of the wider Community Safety, Compliance and Enforcement Service.

About the Candidate You will need to be a knowledgeable and experienced manager, or have experience of coaching and training officers.

You will need to demonstrate:

Knowledge and/or experience of using informal and formal ASB powers to stop anti-social behaviour and protect the public.

Knowledge and/or experience of using homelessness legislation, as well as legislation for unauthorised encampments.

Experience of developing positive and effective working relationships across a variety of partnerships.
